Chris Jericho Returns To WWE - Will Face Bray Wyatt At SummerSlam

Y2J returns for major SummerSlam match.

WWE.comWWE.comChris Jericho surprisingly returned to WWE on the June 30th Raw from Hartford Connecticut. PWinsider is reporting that this return is not a short "in and out", with WWE sources indicating that Jericho is involved in creative plans all the way up until the September 21st Night Of Champions show. Further to this we have sescoops reporting that Jericho will be in a major main event at August's SummerSlam, going one on one against Bray Wyatt. "They closed the deal a few days ago," Dave Meltzer states on Wrestling Observer Radio, "he was thrilled at the prospect of working with Bray Wyatt." The return angle went down as part of another superstar return, The Miz initially coming out to cut a heel promo. Credit to Miz, he seemed to have a new lease of life, talking about how he was back to return to the WrestleMania main event spot. Suddenly interrupting this speech were fireworks followed by Jericho's music. This was a swerve in itself, Jericho came to the ring and attacked The Miz, which seemed to indicate a Miz vs Jericho feud. That wasn't the case, with The Miz knocked out, the lights suddenly blackened and the Wyatt sheep face flashed across the screen. When light was restored we had Jericho surrounded by Rowan, Harper and Bray, with a vicious beat down ensuing. The scene is now set for what promises to be a very exciting summer. Jericho was received in a major way by fans, instantly getting over with a top level perception. "This is awesome" chants erupted when he faced off with Bray. That's going to be one hell of a match when you consider how great both men are in the ring, in addition to their promo ability and character dynamics. WWE made a smart move by bringing Jericho back. They needed a hot sell to ensure the expiring WWE Network subscriptions get kept on past August, and the Jericho vs Bray feud is a compelling reason to stay signed up. Jericho had always said he would only come back for a major programme, well he got what he wanted, Bray Wyatt is one of the very best acts in WWE this year. Perhaps we see Jericho vs The Miz at July's Battleground, before the Wyatt match at SummerSlam and again at Night Of Champions.
