Reigning World Heavyweight Champion and company redemption story CM Punk has told the Notsam Wrestling podcast that he's requested not to be interviewed for the upcoming second season of Netflix show WWE Unreal. Why? Well, Punk says he's "not super thrilled" about cameras following him around everywhere even when he's trying to relax backstage.

Producers have asked Punk to sit down for a chat here or there, but he's declined that and now actively avoids walking through hallways behind the scenes when he knows they have cameras set up there. All of this makes it sound like the man himself outright rejects the actual concept for Unreal, but that's not the case.

He just doesn't want to do more of it after featuring in the first season. On top of that, Punk is not fan of the intrusive filming style Netflix deployed when shooting endless hours of footage for the original run. On that, CM added: "I share the sentiment with a few guys on the roster".

Again though, Punk has nothing against the premise of Unreal or Netflix/WWE's decision to camp out in arenas so they can maximise footage - he simply doesn't want to be so heavily involved come season two.

In particular, Punk praised Unreal for bringing "a human element" to stars like Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair and even himself ("to an extent") throughout the first 5 episodes. He thought the directors and producers did a grand job of capturing various stresses, nerves and also the excitement that comes with being a top level WWE performer.

Punk also doesn't agree with those who think the show should be scrapped completely, pointing out that "nobody's got a gun to your head" and that "you don't got to watch it" if it isn't your thing. To the World Champ, it's a positive that people have the option to peel back the curtain or ignore it if they want.

That freedom of choice is something he believes to be important. If critics/fans disliked the first season of Unreal, then Punk doesn't think they should be dead set on hyper-analysing or reviewing the second: "Why are you commenting? ‘I hate this. I hate this so much. Tomorrow I’m gonna review season two.' Don’t!".
