CM Punk UFC Debut Won't Be Happening In 2015

Punk failed to feature at UFC's 'Go Big' launch event.

CM Punk's MMA debut was not announced at UFC's 'Go Big' launch event on Friday. The event featured all of UFC's biggest stars and confirmed a whole range of fights for the next six months, but there was no mention of CM Punk. It almost certainly means he won't be fighting in 2015, and probably not in the first few months of 2016. If Punk had been ready to fight, the company would have tied it in with the promotional buzz at 'Go Big.' Punk is now probably looking at mid-2016 for his first fight, possibly at July's UFC 200. Stemming from his inability to get a fight this year, after he originally said he was aiming to debut in late 2015, some fans are speculating that things aren't going well for him in training. This also coincides with an increasingly less active twitter usage from the usually vocal Punk. The fact is, MMA is a tough world. Nearly all of UFC's fighters have been competing for years. CM Punk taking his time is probably the best thing to do, but for UFC it is making less and less sense. When they first signed Punk, he was a major name coming off a turbulent WWE run. But it is now almost two years since he left WWE, and his worth is constantly decreasing.
