Dana White Warns Brock Lesnar Could Be "In For A Bad Night" At UFC 200
UFC President has words of caution for The Beast.
The upcoming UFC 200 supercard has fans of mixed martial arts salivating at the stacked lineup and the pro wrestling crowd curiously following along to see how one of the biggest stars in the business will fare in his return to the octagon when Brock Lesnar faces Mark Hunt in the co-main event of the show.
Lesnar, a former UFC heavyweight champion who hasn't fought since December 2011, will step into the cage against one of the most dangerous strikers the sport has ever seen in Hunt. "The Super Samoan" is known as the master of the walk-off knockout, and he's put some of the toughest men in MMA to sleep with his heavy hands.
With over a decade of experience under his belt, the Pride and UFC veteran is currently in the midst of an impressive career resurgence. Although he's 2-2 in his last four fights, three of his four losses in his twelve bout UFC run were against former or current UFC heavyweight champions. He's one of the most respected and feared competitors in the game and a dangerous fight for anyone, especially a guy that hasn't thrown down in nearly five years.
UFC president Dana White issued a stern warning to Lesnar for his upcoming clash with Hunt, informing him that he'd better look to take his opponent to the mat as quickly as possible:
If Brock doesn’t get this thing to the ground; he’s in for a bad night. He thought Alistair Overeem was a problem? Mark Hunt knocks guys out that have never been knocked out. He goes in there and knocks out Roy Nelson with one of those one-shot walk-away punches. Nobody does that to Roy Nelson.”
Brock has a massive advantage when it comes to wrestling, as well as being the superior athlete with the upper hand in strength and speed, but Hunt has plenty of experience squaring off against men who look better on paper. His resume boasts a who's who of MMA names and this is going to be a difficult test for both guys.
White went on to give credit to Lesnar for his desire to return to the octagon and prove to both himself and his detractors that he's better than his last two fights showed him to be. The UFC president added "He’s so pumped to be back here and he’s so happy that Vince and the WWE let him do this. He’s fired up. He’s really excited for this fight. He just has that competitive spirit in him.”
This fight will likely only go one of two ways. Either Lesnar is able to implement his wrestling skills and take Hunt to the ground and hold him there, keeping himself out of danger and working toward a decision or ground and pound stoppage, or Hunt successfully stuffs Brock's takedown attempts and hits the WWE star with his trademark concrete fists and earns a win via strikes.
