Daniel Bryan Wants Brock Lesnar At WrestleMania 31

Bryan is a potential candidate for Lesnar at WWE's biggest event.

Daniel Bryan has told the UK'S MTV website about his strong desire to wrestle Brock Lesnar. The comments could be viewed as an early indication of the direction WWE could be going in for WrestleMania 31. "One of the things that kills me about this is if I were champion right now I€™d be wrestling Brock Lesnar and that€™s the match I€™ve always really wanted," Bryan told MTV. "I feel like we could do something completely different that people have seen before in the United States. That€™s the match I really, really want." Bryan won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 30, and industry insiders had expected him to defend the title against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2014. However, a neck injury put stop to Bryan's run. He has now returned from injury, and judging by his comments, still wants the Lesnar match. The question is, will WWE revive the Bryan vs Lesnar plans? The answer could be yes. It would almost make more sense than before, as Lesnar is now the Champion and Bryan is back in his stronger underdog role. A Daniel Bryan victory at the 2015 Royal Rumble would provide the perfect narrative for the long awaited Bryan vs Lesnar match to happen at WrestleMania 31. Bryan's vocal desperation for the match could hold some sway with WWE management. There's no doubting that Bryan is a top star and he could absolutely have a good match with Lesnar. As for who would win, Lesnar is rumoured to be leaving for the UFC once his WWE deal is up in April, so it would more than likely be a big win for Bryan - the kind of win he needs to get back the dizzying heights of his 2014 Yes Movement popularity. One thing to note, though, is that WWE may be reluctant to push Bryan, due to the physical frailty he has displayed in the past. It's no use investing big wins in a wrestler, just to see them sit on the bench for the majority of a year. Bryan named Cesaro, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose as his other ideal opponents. Perhaps he will have to make do with one of those names in the Mania midcard. All will become a lot more clearer at the January 25th Royal Rumble.
