Dixie Carter May Be Done With TNA
Billy Corgan in. Dixie Carter out.
We had known that Billy Corgan's involvement behind the scenes in TNA has been increasing over the past few months, and that he was recently named president of the company, but Dixie Carter's role was still a bit of a mystery.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the longtime owner may actually be completely done with TNA.
"She's out of power completely, she is completely out of power no matter what's said, but she may be gone." Meltzer revealed on his show.
On one hand, this is a long overdue move for the company. Had Dixie willingly given up some of her power long ago to someone like a Jim Ross or Paul Heyman (both who she briefly negotiated with), TNA would likely not have had so many problems over the past few years.
However, she did basically save the company from extinction back in 2002, so it's a bit unfortunate that it ended like this.
It's hard to imagine that this could be a bad thing for TNA in the long run, as Dixie just never quite seemed to grasp the wrestling business, and made one awful decision after the next (hiring Hulk Hogan and Vince Russo, letting A.J. Styles and Samoa Joe go, trying to go up against Raw).
Corgan is a lifelong fan, and the product has improved in 2016, so hopefully this means we're about to see some more big, positive changes for the long-struggling organization.
