Feared Injured WWE Star Returns To The Ring Over The Weekend

Despite fears of a long-term injury, this major WWE favourite has now returned to the ring.

In addition to pissing off Bill Goldberg, Asuka returned to in-ring action over the weekend.

Of course, the Empress of Tomorrow suffered some sort of knee injury on the 15 March edition of WWE SmackDown. In the immediate aftermath of that Smackers, reports were uncertain just how serious this injury was, and the star was pulled from that weekend's live events as a precaution. All that was known was Asuka was hurt, and tests would determine whether this was something she'd be able to work through or whether this would end up forcing a substantial absence for one half of the current WWE Women's Tag Team Champions - even more concerning with WrestleMania XL on the horizon.

In some hugely positive news, PWInsider reports that Asuka returned to action in a six-woman tag match at Saturday's live event from Springfield, Illinois' Bank of Springfield Center. There, the former Kana teamed with Damage CTRL pals Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane in a losing effort against Bianca Belair, Naomi, and Becky Lynch.

While it's yet to be confirmed what the non-Iyo members of Damage CTRL are doing at WrestleMania XL at this stage, having a fit and healthy Asuka is clearly a major bonus as the Showcase of the Immortals looms large. Given recent happenings on WWE programming, it appears that Asuka and Kairi Sane could be facing Bianca Belair and Naomi at 'Mania XL - with the possibility of Dakota Kai and maybe Jade Cargill being thrown into the mix.

From Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, WWE WrestleMania XL takes place on 6 and 7 April.
