Finally... The Rock Is 40

The multi-time WWE Champion turned actor celebrates his 40th birthday today.

The multi-time WWE Champion turned actor celebrates his 40th birthday today. The Rock, who defeated John Cena in the main event at this year's Wrestlemania is currently away from the ring filming 'Pain & Gain', Michael Bay's new action movie which also stars Mark Wahlberg and TNA superstar Kurt Angle who appears in a short fight scene. The story of the film is that a pair of body builders get caught up in an extortion ring and kidnapping scheme that goes wrong. The film is also based on a true story. The Rock is a third generation superstar following the footsteps of his grandfather 'High Chief' Peter Maivia and his father Rocky Johnson. He shot to fame after he debuted in the WWE as Rocky Maivia, managing to break from the pack catapulting himself to the top of the ladder, thus becoming The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment. His witty catchphrases and comedic put downs along with his entertaining move set drew fans in. Whether playing heel or face The Rock manages to keep the crowd on their toes, getting them chanting wether it be cheers or jeer. Having won multiple titles including the WWE Championship and the WCW Championship, The Rock is an exceptionally decorated superstar. His most memorable matches being with such stars as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mick Foley and Triple H, while his bout with Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania XIII was an exceptional spectacle to both fans in attendance and watching at home. On the Raw following Wrestlemania 28, The Rock vowed to return and capture the WWE Championship although at current time there is no return date set The Great One. Now that Brock Lesnar is back in the loop there's unlikely to be a rush, especially with his commitments to the big screen. Having starred in over 20 movies he is unlikely to be short of scripts rolling in from Hollywood. The rumours circulating at the moment is that The Rock is expected to face either Brock Lesnar or John Cena in a rematch at Wrestlemania 29.
