On last night's episode of GFW Impact, Gail Kim announced that 2017 will be her final year as an active wrestler.

This means the 40 year old only has around 4 months before retiring from the ring, but Kim also stated that she plans to go out on top.

A former WWE Women's Champion and 6-time TNA Knockouts Champ, Gail also produced a memorable series of matches with Awesome Kong in 2007-2008 that paved the way for women's wrestling to be taken more seriously in the United States.

Becoming emotional during her speech, the 17-year veteran thanked Jeremy Borash, her fellow wrestlers and of course the fans before announcing that she would be stepping away from the ring for good.

Kim was never given a fair shot in WWE despite her obvious in-ring talent. Spells with the company between 2002-2004 and 2008-2011 didn't prove as fruitful as Gail wanted, and yet she was able to become recognised as one of the finest female performers of her generation.

Kim tweeted out her thanks post-show, before then reminding everyone that she wasn't quite done yet.
