Drew McIntyre absolute piece

Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar will contest the vacant WWE Universal Title at Crown Jewel this Friday (2 November), but Drew McIntyre came within a hair of competing in what would've been the biggest match of his career to date.

Per PW Insider, the idea of inserting the Scot into Lesnar vs. Strowman was pitched during a WWE creative meeting last week. The company ultimately went with the singles bout, rather than booking another Triple Threat, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Recent months have seen several major outlets report that WWE see McIntyre as a future main eventer. This is in-line with his booking, as the company have protected the former NXT Champion in ways they only tend to do with top stars, with McIntyre eschewing textbook cowardly heel tactics to stand firm in the face of imposing foes like Strowman and Roman Reigns.

Reigns' illness has given WWE a major problem to address, as Raw now lacks a clear figurehead. Although Strowman will likely walk away with the big red belt at Crown Jewel, that Drew was even pitched for the clash suggests huge things are in his future, though his fans will need to remain patient for a while longer.
