How Reviving An Attitude Era Classic Would Make WWE WrestleMania 35 Unmissable

The announcement of Becky Lynch's Royal Rumble SmackDown Women's Championship clash with Asuka was the most recent reminder that 'The Man's presumed 'WrestleMania Moment' isn't quite yet etched in stone. Especially when it was pulled completely - WWE shot their load early with a Main Event graphic revealing the contest several weeks before the booking got there.

The awkwardness of Paige taking the storyline blame for the leak and Lynch herself talking up then down the contest on Twitter wasn't lost on much of the fanbase that have only recently found faith in the former 'Irish Lass Kicker'. Since making the Asuka clash official again, fantasy bookers have tried to navigate Lynch's path to the 'Show Of Shows' headline spot against Ronda Rousey, but the multitude of ways the pair could find one another has instead made the prospect a little bit of a chore rather than a challenge.

Charlotte Flair's own insertion into the WrestleMania mix was something clearly on the agenda the night she snapped on Rousey whilst acting as Lynch's Survivor Series replacement. A metatextual feast that fed perfectly back into Flair's own programme with Lynch, Charlotte's taking of the November spot resulted in her taking back the conversation over April's main event too.

This naturally galvanised Becky's ardent supporters, but a combination of her megastar aura and Charlotte's ferocious fire on the night had elevated both back into the top spot on merit. Constant comparisons between Steve Austin and Becky Lynch were relevant again - in Charlotte, Lynch now had The Rock - a performer almost as dynamic looking to claim a spot amongst the elite by being simply too good to ignore. But another iconic 'Rattlesnake' rivalry now beckons for 'The Man' - particularly if she's to make it to New Jersey's promised land later this year.
