Hugo Knox Leaves NXT

Former English footballer has decided NXT isn't soon enough.

NXT rookie and former English football goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson (Hugo Knox) has quit WWE.

While we don't know for sure yet, Dave Meltzer has speculated that Tomlinson was frustrated with WWE because he wasn't getting anywhere in the company after being in developmental for the past couple years.

It's hard to blame him, as he was signed in late 2013, then had his first match in November 2014, and only once appeared on NXT television (teaming with Tucker Knight to job to the Vaudevillians).

With developmental deals often paying incredible low salaries (especially for talent who aren't on TV), it's likely he was getting a bit fed up, and not enjoying his new lifestyle after being paid well as a footballer.

Tomlinson is only 31 years old, so if he's still passionate about the business then this doesn't have to be the end, but with his WWE relationship over and TNA possibly going under, he may not have a lot of big options on the table.

Football fans shouldn't be too upset, though, as German 'keeper Tim Wiese is still in WWE developmental and could someday make it to the main roster.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
