Jack Perry disputes claims that he asked for forgiveness and regularly apologised in the months after the behind-the-scenes fight with CM Punk at All In 2023, or that there are any current plans in place for an AEW return.

As revealed by Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, not only did Perry not actually repeatedly text AEW President Tony Khan saying sorry for his part in the Punk confrontation backstage - as reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter - he actually didn't hear from Khan for two months after the incident.

Perry also informed TK's lawyers that he wouldn't be making first contact, with Khan then finally setting up a meeting between the two before last year's Full Gear - a meeting where plans to bring Perry back to AEW in December were talked about.

Those plans were then dropped in the wake of Punk's WWE return at Survivor Series.

After wanting to appear at the then-incoming NJPW Wrestle Kingdom event but not being able to due to logistical reasons, the former AEW World Tag Team Champion then worked with Rocky Romero and Khan to bring his current NJPW run into being.

And though Perry is still currently under AEW contract, it was also revealed that he both asked for his release at one point but was denied it and there are still no current plans for him to return to AEW TV.

Perry and Khan haven't talked in months, and the former hasn't cleared anything he's been seen doing in NJPW with TK, including calling himself a "scapegoat" or tearing up his AEW contract.

Jack Perry hasn't appeared on AEW programming since that London PPV where he clashed with Hook over the FTW title - a match that saw him controversially say the line "real glass, cry me a river" which led to a fight between Perry and Punk backstage. Punk was then fired from AEW in the aftermath.
