Updated again: A WWE representative released a statement to TMZ;
“Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during Monday night’s broadcast of ‘Monday Night Raw’ in Montreal. We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family.”
Update: Smith Hart, the brother of WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart who was backstage last night at Raw, told friends he Lawler was “clinically dead” for twenty minutes before being revived by a defibrillator.
He wrote on Twitter, “According to my friend Jeremy Prophet who was backstage at RAW, Jerry was clinically dead for 20 min before being brought back by defibrilat.”
Update: Jerry Lawler’s girlfriend Lauryn McBride confirmed Lawler had suffered a heart attack;
“Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. It has been confirmed that Jerry did have a heart attack…he is in stable condition and breathing on his own & heart is stable. I’m getting on the first flight out of here to be with him & will keep everyone posted. He is a strong man and we will get him back at his best as soon as I can get him home! I love you so so much baby!!”
During last night’s episode of WWE RAW, the commentary suddenly cut midway through the second half of the show. Michael Cole then took to the camera full of tears and worry and reported that Jerry “The King” Lawler had passed out at commentary. He informed us that Lawler had collapsed to the floor and was taken backstage via a stretcher and was then given CPR. After that he was taken to the local Montreal Hospital where he is in isolation recieving cat scans and is breathing with oxygen.
Jerry Lawler had just competed in a wrestling match earlier on in the night where we teamed with Randy Orton against CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler. In this match Jerry performed two diving fist drops within approximately ten seconds of each other. Michael Cole has stated for a third time during the show that “This is not apart of our entertainment” To conclude the RAW broadcast Michael Cole said that Jerry Lawler’s condition has stabalised, his breathing and heart beat has stabalised and his chest and head is being cat scanned.

Smith Hart is a carny scumbag who never said anything that wasn’t intended to benefit him. Being clinically dead for 20 minutes would most likely have left Lawler brain dead, with three minutes or more typically leading to brain damage. Instead, he was responsive last night at the hospital.
not so Lobes. i am a paramedic here in the UK or an EMT in U.S.A and have been for 6 years. and in my 6 years as an EMT ( Paramedic ) i have delt with many heart attacks. and there was 1 guy who was down ( dead ) for nearly 1 hour with no lasting complaints. and he is fitter now than he has ever been.
I truely hopes jerry lawler gets well soon. It also asks questions should jerry retire? and if he does not, what role does he have in WWE Because he can no longer interfere with matches. but michael cole could swop. has jerry had problems before. some wrestlers want to be remembered for things they do. and that would of been a classic example. i am not being ironic thats how some people want to be remembered.
He would not necessarily be brain damaged after 20 minutes here in englad we have a football player called fabrice muamba he collapsed and had a heart attack on the pitch mid game and he was clinically dead for nearly 2 hours before being revived and hes fine hes back in training and hopeing to play again soon if you dont believe me google it xx
Laura, I’m afraid to say that Muamba has actually retired from playing, based on medical expert opinion in France.
However he was clinically dead and has made a remarkable recovery, I believe there has been some brain damage, based on the fact that he has admitted that he struggles to remember certain things, such as memories or people’s faces. Whether or not this is permanent or not, i can only hope not.
