John Cena To Miss WWE House Shows To Film Movies

Two movie roles for the very busy WWE Champion...

WWE.comWWE.comJohn Cena is the busiest man in World Wrestling Entertainment. The new WWE Champion is the most featured performer on WWE programming every week, spends his free time granting wishes with kids for Make-A-Wish and he makes time to film scenes for Total Divas with his girlfriend Nikki Bella too. He's even working on a movie right now and has another one in the works. The first bit of Cena news comes from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who reports that as soon as Daniel Bryan became injured it was Cena that WWE pegged as the new WWE Champion. There were rumors last week that it might be Randy Orton and even Kane got some late attention as the possible winner, but in the end WWE went with the obvious choice by putting the gold on Cena for his 15th reign as a WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Cena's busy life is extending outside of WWE these days. He's currently filming Judd Apatow€™s Amy Schumer film titled Trainwreck. Other actors in the comedy are Amy Schumer, Vanessa Bayer, Ezra Miller, Brie Larson, Bill Hader and Colin Quinn. While Cena isn't expected to have a major role in the film, his presence in a mainstream movie will be a big boost for both him and WWE. Plot details are being kept quiet, but it will be released in June 2015. It was reported yesterday by Deadline.com that Cena will appear in a film called The Nest. It is Universal€™s Tina Fey-Amy Poehler comedy about two sisters who throw one last party in their parents€™ soon-to-be-sold house. There aren't any more details out about it, but it's a comedy where Cena is reportedly playing a heel character. That will be a welcome sight to wrestling fans. The film is set for a December 2015 release, so that means Cena's two comedies are coming out next year. What's noteworthy about the movie roles is that Cena is missing more weekend house shows due to filming. For example, this Saturday I'll be at a house show with a main event of Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt. Cena's not scheduled for it or the Friday one (or the other roster doing house shows), but he is set to appear in Toronto on Sunday. That's likely due to his filming schedule. If you think Cena's going to quit wresting so he can become a full time movie actor, don't bet on it. He's said over the years that while he enjoys filming movies, his focus is on WWE and will continue that way going forward. Maybe in five to ten years he might do more films after his in-ring career slow down a bit, but for now he's definitely committed to WWE. As for Cena's career, it's expected that he'll retain the WWE Title at Battleground before heading into a showdown with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.
