Elias' impressive WrestleMania 35 musical trio - in which he performed alongside a pre-recorded version of himself - was rudely interrupted by none other than John Cena - and a John Cena from 15 years back, no less.

A long and rather peculiar video package showcasing New York Yankees' legend Babe Ruth cut the WWE songster's performance short, before a very familiar theme music hit announcing the arrival of none other than the 'Dr of Thuganomics'.

Cena, who apparently spent the night bathing in Matt Hardy's lake of restoration, looked about 20 years younger as he marched to ring in his throwback gear of baseball jersey, backwards cap and trademark chain. New York's MetLife Stadium greeted the erstwhile boo-boy with rapturous, nostalgia-driven cheers.

Once he reached the ring, Cena grabbed the mic and treated us to an absolutely brilliant old school rap, announcing his arrival with this absolute zinger:

"Silence your cell phone, hold your applause. Shut your mouth and no string plucks, I feel like I'm watching one of my movies, 'cause this whole damn thing sucks."

The rap continued, with Cena dissing Elias as "a little piece of Shih Tzu", before he hit the crooner with a duster-assisted five-knuckle shuffle and an old-school FU.

It was, in a word, brill.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
