Will NJPW grant the IWGP United States Champion's wish?

Jon Moxley enjoyed a strong start to life in NJPW last week, first besting IWGP United States Champion Juice Robinson at Wednesday's Best of the Super Juniors finals, before battering Young Lion Shota Umino at Sunday's Dominion 6.9 pay-per-view.

A strong post-match promo saw Moxley grab the microphone after the Umino bout, then claim that he wanted to participate in this year's G1 Climax tournament. He then grabbed the Young Lion, took him to the back, and reiterated his demand in this backstage diatribe:-

Dominion was a busy night for G1 declarations, with Shingo Takagi and newcomer KENTA joining Moxley in stating their desire to compete. IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay then made a similar request in his backstage promo.

The latest incarnation of NJPW's signature round robin tournament kicks off in Dallas, Texas on 6 July. Moxley would have been high on many a fan's wishlist after his performance against Robinson, and it looks like him, Takagi, Ospreay, and KENTA could fill the spots left by Kenny Omega, Michael Elgin, Hangman Page, and Tama Tonga, who won't be in this year's G1.

Official confirmation should come within the next few weeks.
