Jon Stewart Will Host WWE SummerSlam

The Emmy Award winning comedian is teaming up with WWE again.

Jon Stewart, the comedian and former anchor of The Daily Show, will be the host of WWE SummerSlam this Sunday, August 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The announcement was made exclusively on USA Today and shortly after WWE was pushing it on their website as well as on social media. They also plugged it heavily during Raw as well. It's being touted as Stewart's first major job since he left The Daily Show on August 6th after 16 years of hosting one of the most successful comedy shows ever. https://twitter.com/WWEUniverse/status/633430315659325440/photo/1 While SummerSlam certainly doesn't "need" a host, a guy like Stewart has shown he can adapt to WWE shows very well because he's done it in the past. He's a fan of the product and his son is really into it, so the fact that WWE could get a guy of Stewart's caliber is very impressive. Stewart will likely do some sort of in-ring segment to get some laughs from the crowd and probably do some backstage comedy bits as well. It's a ten match show over four hours, so there will be some comedy mixed in too.
Most of Stewart's past interaction with WWE has involved current WWE Champion Seth Rollins. Their rivalry led to Rollins appearing on The Daily Show multiple times, then Stewart going on Raw and Rollins appearing on one of Stewart's last shows earlier this month. After the show, Rollins presented Stewart with his own WWE Title. When Stewart appeared on the March 2 edition of Raw he fit in very well and should be an entertaining host of SummerSlam this Sunday night as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn-iHzOZk2M
