Masked Kane Returns At WWE Raw Slammy Awards & Chokeslams John Cena

Last night on Raw's 2011 Slammy Awards edition show, Kane returned to the WWE wearing his mask. At first The Big Red Monster had an all black, Man in the Iron Mask-esque mask on as he came to the ring during the main event between Mark Henry and John Cena. Whilst Mark Henry looked scared outside of the ring, Kane put his hand around Cena and delivered a thunderous chokeslam to the floor. He then raised his hands for the turnbuckle flames before taking off his black mask, which revealed what appeared to be a new version of the 2003 red mask, the final one he had before he was forced to unmask after losing a match to Triple H on RAW. The Wrestling Globe Newsletter reports that one reason for bringing back Kane with a mask (except for obvious merchandise reasons and to freshen up the character) is because WWE officials are looking to set a new Guinness World Record for the "largest gathering of people wearing costume masks" at Wrestlemania 28 in Miami, Florida on April 1st. The current record is held in Baseball when a Major League between Los Angeles Angels and the Chicago White Sox at Anaheim's Angel Stadium had around 25,000 fans donning red Lucha masks during a designated ten minute period. The original idea for a push of the masks was for a Rey Mysterio vs Sin Cara match where fans would be encouraged to put on their masks but with Sin Cara missing the event through injury, and Rey Mysterio touch and go as to whether he will be fit for the event, WWE are now banking on Kane.
