Mick Foley Snubs WWE Legends Deal Due To Level Of Pay

Mick Foley has turned down a WWE legends deal due to his perception that it doesn't pay enough. The former star went into great detail on his Facebook account, sounding off on the reasons he no longer has a working relationship with WWE. The crux of his issue is that he felt payoffs over the last two years of his WWE relationship were disproportionate to the work he put in. "It would be fair to say that, despite strong sales, I have found the payoffs for the past two video games to be extremely weak - in the 25% range of what most talent was expecting." Foley declares. "Last year, the explanation had something to do with the video game company going bankrupt- a real shame for me, since I was heavily featured as three characters from the "Attitude" era, complete with voice work. I haven't heard this year's explanation yet, but, personally I think the #WWE just wants to see if the talent will accept a far lower than had previously been given." As such, Foley has decided not to sign a new WWE deal, which would have gave the company the right to market his likeness in video games and action figures. Obviously Foley has to protect his own interests, but the majority of talent seem happy with the standard of pay for the legends deal, WWE has more former talent on board than ever before. Foley's latest issue follows months of griping about WWE, having previously gone on tirades about the quality of creative. His openness to criticise WWE on everything from pay to creativity is hardly the wisest move, but the company probably doesn't even care enough to notice. A cycle will work itself out and we will probably see Mick Foley back in the WWE at some point in the future.
