News On Lucha Underground's "Ultima Lucha" 2 Hour Finale On August 5

Lucha Underground planning big show for season one finale.

Lucha Underground will have a two hour special to end their exciting first season on August 5. Here's what they sent us in a press release.

El Rey Network€™s debut season of €œLucha Underground€ will culminate with their biggest event yet, Ultima Lucha, a two-hour extravaganza airing Wednesday, August 5th. Each match will be pivotal and the stakes have never been higher with every championship title on the line as the biggest names in the wrestling world collide at the €œLucha Underground€ temple in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. In last night€™s episode, Dario Cueto announced that this never-before-seen event would be an annual celebration featuring the biggest bouts and the most amazing matches full of twists, turns, and incredible action.
Lucha Underground debuted on October 29, 2014 and has had only one hour episodes every Wednesday on the El Rey Network. Doing a two hour finale on August 5 makes a lot of sense because it will be a great way to conclude their storylines. The episodes have already been taped, so results are out there if you are interested in what happens although as a viewer it's better if you go into it without knowing results.
The main stars of Lucha Underground include former WWE stars Alberto El Patron (Del Rio), Johnny Mundo (Morrison) and Chavo Guerrero Jr. among others. The current Lucha Underground Champion is Prince Puma, who is also known as Ricochet and is one of the best wrestlers alive. They also feature a number of masked lucha libre competitors from Mexico that are well known from the AAA promotion. It's a really unique mix of talent that has led to Lucha Underground being one of the best wrestling shows every week. There's no official word on if a second season of Lucha Underground will take place although the expectation is that it's probably going to happen. When we receive word on that we will let you know.
