Nikki Bella Returns With Victory At WWE SummerSlam 2016
Former Divas' Champion is back in action.
When Eva Marie was suspended for violating WWE's Wellness Policy last week, many fans wondered what would happen to the Smackdown six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam.
The answer came Sunday evening, when former WWE Divas' Champion Nikki Bella returned to action to take Eva Marie's place.
Bella joined forces with Natalya and Alexa Bliss to take on the team of Naomi, Carmella, and Becky Lynch. Her first match in nearly ten months was a rousing success - she picked up the victory for her team after hitting Carmella with her new TKO finisher.
Nikki Bella won the Divas' Championship at Survivor Series 2014 and proceeded to hold the title throughout most of 2015. She, sister Brie, and Alicia Fox formed a team during the "Divas' Revolution," but last September, Charlotte defeated her for the title. After losing a rematch at Hell in a Cell, Bella took a leave of absence to deal with a neck injury. She underwent surgery in January and has kept fans updated on her progress.
After months of rehabilitation, Bella is back in the ring, albeit with a caveat - according to rumors, she will only be able to wrestle a part-time schedule from now on. Her participation in the SummerSlam match seems to indicate she'll be a part of the Smackdown roster going forward.
