NJPW legend Yuji Nagata will open the forbidden door on Wednesday 12 May.

As confirmed on last night's AEW Dynamite, Nagata will show up to challenge for Jon Moxley's IWGP United States Championship in two weeks, following weeks of teasing from the two wrestlers.

This began with New Japan uploading a clip of Mox challenging 'Blue Justice' to step up and fight for the belt:-

Nagata then issued a respond to Moxley, whom he called a "snot-nosed" punk:-

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic's myriad travel restrictions makes matches like this difficult at the moment. That Nagata hasn't wrestled for NJPW since 30 March suggests the clash has been in the works for a while now.

Nagata, 53, will be the second major NJPW wrestlers to cross over to AEW since the forbidden door was opened earlier this year. KENTA appeared for Tony Khan's company in February, teaming with Kenny Omega in a win over Moxley and Lance Archer.

An interesting facet of this is that Nagata will be making his return to TNT for the first time in almost 23 years. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion last wrestled on the network in July 1998, beating Perry Saturn on an episode of WCW Nitro.
