Titles: WWE Champion, World Heavyweight Champion, Tag Team Champion, Intercontinental Champion, European Champion

There can only be one first Grand Slam Champion, and that distinction belongs to the only man who could claim the number 1 spot on this list.

Ol' HBK has experienced plenty of ups and downs in his lengthy career. He's earned the ire of the locker room at various stages throughout, but the guy's always been a hit with the fans, even after his infamous "I've lost my smile" speech. And backstage politicking aside, that's what really matters when you're looking at a superstar's legacy.

Like Bret Hart, Michaels enjoyed great success as one half of a tag team, but even greater success as a singles competitor as part of the New Generation. Unlike his Montréal Screwjob counterpart, however, Michaels' was able to adapt to the changing M.O. of the business during the Attitude Era and had continued success well into the 2000s.

HBK proved, once and for all, that WWE had kicked its obsession with bodybuilders in the role of World Champion. And, as controversial as some of his title reigns might've been back in the '90s, there's no denying that he looked like a natural fit for pretty much any title they put on him.

From his days as a Rocker, to the formation of D-Generation X, to his magnificent 2002 comeback, WWE has always been a more entertaining product when Shawn Michaels is involved.
