Ranking WWE Extreme Rules PPVs From Least To Most Extreme

Some shows were more deserving of the name than others...

Before writing this article, I found myself looking up the word extreme in the dictionary. There are a number of meanings, many of which aren€™t particularly exciting.

That€™s the good thing about professional wrestling, thoughit doesn€™t take place inside a dictionary. It takes place in a world where extreme means setting alight a barbed wire bat, or jumping off a 20-foot ladder, and that generally makes for better television.

But with this year€™s Extreme Rules PPV almost upon us, we€™re currently somewhat lacking in the €œextreme" department.

While Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho promise to live up to up to the show€™s moniker, is a submission match stipulation really all that extreme? And though Fatal 4-ways are technically no DQ, somehow I doubt we€™re going to see a particularly hardcore affair in the Intercontinental Championship bout.

All of this got me thinking thoughof the seven Extreme Rules PPVs that we've seen over the years, which have come closest to justifying the name bestowed upon the show?

This article looks to answer that, as we rank each of the previous Extreme Rules PPVs from least to most extreme.
