Report: Vince McMahon Becoming Distant From WWE

The WWE Chairman is finally taking more of a backseat.

The megalomaniacal, ever-hands-on nature of Vince McMahon has been legendary ever since VKM formed Titan Sports in 1979 and then purchased WWE from his father in 1983. But these days, it seems that McMahon is finally started to take a bit more of a backseat in all things WWE.

In a new report from Fightful Select (via Reddit), Vince is now spending more time away from WWE than he has in previous decades. Particularly, McMahon is said to rarely ever be in attendance for the weekly SmackDown show.

Vinny Mac’s trusty right-hand man Bruce Prichard is now overseeing Smackers as its Executive Director, of course, which would logically be one reason why Vince is okay with giving the blue brand’s weekly product a miss.

Where Raw is concerned, Vince is at approximately half of the Raw shows. That in itself is a little bit glaring, mind, for McMahon would never previously even miss a single episode of Raw.

It certainly seems apparent that Vince McMahon is now a little happier to let others take the lead on his wrestling programming, but one other obvious factor in all of this is the small matter of the XFL.

McMahon’s rebooted football league kicked off this past weekend, and so relaunching that once-failed product has clearly been a major focus of so much of Vince’s time over the past several months – and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.
