Report: WWE WrestleMania 36 Plans "Wide Open"

DrewMania? AleisterMania?

Per a report from Fightful, plans for this year's WrestleMania are "wide open in many regards". Much of the roster is happy with this; it is believed that WWE may go with who is "hot", rather than impose the sort of forced narrative that has proven drastically unpopular in recent years.

It's hard to form an opinion.

Such a strategy does not prohibit something like KofiMania - a well-earned and unforgettable development that was quintessentially WrestleMania-feeling - but something like KofiMania doesn't just happen. It is dependent on a wild convergence of factors that cannot be controlled. WWE at least isn't relentlessly forcing a narrative that was never going to work, and works less the more daunting it becomes, but a well-plotted and committed push - provided it is booked on behalf of a genuinely over prospect - breeds a vital sense of trust in the process.

Interestingly, under-the-radar Twitter scoopster Rovert - who has in recent months broken stories of Jon Moxley missing AEW All Out, Marty Scurll re-signing with Ring Of Honor, and ROH renewing its faltering relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling - has alluded to WWE going all-in on another raft of huge names from yesteryear to promote the show around. He "wouldn't be surprised", to use his words.
