Rey Mysterio Close To WWE Return?

Details on a potentially lucrative new contract for Mysterio.

Rey Mysterio is set to return to WWE in the very near future, reports Steve Sims of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. WWE has reportedly offered Mysterio a great deal to return to the company full time. Now, whether or not Mysterio, at his age and with his history of injuries, would want to come back full time is questionable. But Rey has apparently had a change of heart about returning recently. This change of heart could be down to the fact that the deal that WWE is offering Mysterio is said to be 'the best he can get for the rest of his life' and could include a reduced schedule of dates. WWE has realised that they need Mysterio since they don't have a major Hispanic name for the Mexican market. Alberto Del Rio was released under a cloud of controversy in the summer and the 'new' Sin Cara is not exactly going to impact the box-office. Mysterio is one of WWE's biggest stars, despite his popularity fading in recent years as he has taken on more of an enhancement role in the company. He still shifts a lot of merchandise and can work a good match with just about everybody with ease. Working with Rey is so easy that many see it as having the 'night off' and he is well-liked backstage. WWE and Rey need each other and, with these recent reports, it seems as though they may have come to their senses after all.
