Rey Mysterio Could Make WWE Return By SummerSlam?

SummerSlam could be Mysterio's big return.

Rey Mysterio could be back in WWE by SummerSlam, Dr Lucha Steve Sims has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio. The 41 year old has already left AAA, reportedly due to financial qualms. He's booked for an independent iPPV against Kurt Angle next month, and has commitments with Lucha Underground, but beyond that would be available for WWE. It isn't thought that it would be too hard for him to get out of his Lucha Underground deal. With everything considered, a SummerSlam return does make the most sense. It gives both WWE and Mysterio the time to book the return properly. Bringing him back at WrestleMania could see him lost in the shuffle, in addition to creating problems with Lucha Underground. A SummerSlam return is far more realistic. As for Rey's potential spot back in WWE, expect him to be pegged in the mid card. He's too much of an injury liability for WWE to push, so they won't be making him champion or giving him anything too major. A nice little run before retiring and taking a spot in the WWE Hall Of Fame is what makes sense. He'll be 42 at the end of the year and was past his prime many years ago. Having started wrestling in his teens, and years of serious injuries, he's surely near an official retirement.
