The Rock Says No To WrestleMania 31 Match

Sorry WWE fans, the news isn't good!

The Rock has told TMZ.com that he has no plans to wrestle for WWE at WrestleMania 31. There had been heavy speculation earlier this week that Rock would be returning for a match, but the Hollywood star has now quashed those rumours. "I don't think so, no, I might get hit in the mouth, I don't want that" Rock told TMZ's reporter. This could of course be a ruse. WWE seem to have some sort of informal relationship with TMZ, so perhaps this interview was done to throw fans off the creative direction. Then again, Rock could be being completely honest. Why would he want to risk injuries when he's got such a hot acting career? He needs his physicality for his movie roles. Earlier in the week, Rock had shot a segment with Triple H for Smackdown's 15th Anniversary show. That angle had seemed to hint at a WrestleMania feud between the pair. Indeed, both men mentioned they'd win a match if they were to meet in the future. The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer commented €œWWE isn€™t going to tease something in that direction if it€™s not the planned direction.€ There had also been murmurings of Rock vs Rusev next year. The two staged a compelling face-off on Monday Night Raw. However, that was done just as a one off, with Rock in the New York area on business at the same time as WWE's Raw event. For now, we should probably take Rock's TMZ comments at face value. That means no WrestleMania match for WWE's most famous superstar.
