Ryback Shares Hospital Video And Discusses Coming Back Strong To WWE

Ryback updates fans on his surgeries and promises to come back in a big way.

Ryback is currently on the shelf. We knew he was taking time off a few days ago, but we didn't know what was wrong. Thanks to a video that he shot from a hospital bed with him in cap & gown, we found out that he had surgery. According to Ryback, he had surgery to repair strained groin injuries as well as two sports hernias. He mentioned that he's been dealing with these injuries for the past seven months. His video is unique because his current gimmick as "The Big Guy" likes to embellish things. We've documented about his Twitter antics in the past where he likes to troll fans with silly comments only to delete them soon after. In this video, Ryback claims he's a four time WWE Champion (he's actually never been WWE Champion), he explains his love for mothers, talks about discussions with baseball legend Babe Ruth (died in 1948) and it ended with him struggling to say his "Ryback Rules" catchprhase at the end. Give him credit for making it entertaining. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqAOMnTDwQw Ryback promised that he's going to come back in a big way. This could be a way for WWE to completely re-invent his character. Perhaps they can book him as a babyface to see if he can re-capture that magic he had in 2012 when he nearly became WWE Champion on multiple occasions. Remember it was Ryback that felt the wrath of The Shield when they showed up in WWE at Survivor Series 2012. For the last year, following a failed run as a Paul Heyman Guy, he's been teaming with Curtis Axel to form the heel "Rybaxel" tag team. It's been entertaining at times although they haven't been booked strong enough to the point that fans have really taken them seriously. They have added some personality by referring to themselves as "The Big Guy" (Ryback) and "The Axe Man" (Axel), but other than that they're just a couple of delusional heels. When Ryback returns he might team with Axel again although if WWE has a desire to push Ryback as a singles wrestler then this is a good time for it because he'll be fresh whenever he gets back. There's no indication about when he might return to the ring, but there were reports that it might be the end of September. If that's the case then these aren't major surgeries, but are done to relieve him of the pain he's been dealing with. It all depends on the severity of the injuries and his recovery time, which we don't know much about at this point. We wish Ryback the best in his recovery and look forward to seeing the "Big Guy" back in a WWE ring soon.
