The speculation surrounding who is AEW's latest free agent signing has been running rampant since Friday when company president Tony Khan announced the impending new talent, and that likely won't stop until Dynamite on Wednesday night.

But while a report from Fightful Select doesn't nail down the identity of the soon-to-debut wrestler, it does effectively kill a rumor that that the newcomer could be Jeff Hardy. The report indicated that "we've been told pretty firmly that it is not Jeff Hardy, who has a non-compete until March."

Hardy was released from WWE in early December, less than two months ago, so it would appear that he has another month on his 90-day no-compete.

Jeff and his brother Matt Hardy have already announced a few events together in March. With Matt active with AEW, there has been plenty of speculation and anticipation at the prospect of one last run for the Hardy brothers, possibly competing against the likes of the Young Bucks and other AEW tag teams.

The Fightful Select report also mentioned that they've spoken to "numerous talent," but none of them know who the surprise hire is supposed to be, though talent universally believes it to be Keith Lee. Released from WWE in early November, Lee became a free agent last week and got married to fellow wrestler (and free agent) Mia Yim. His name has been at the top of the speculation list since Khan fired off his initial tweet.

Regardless, we'll get our answer in a couple short days, but that won't stop the rumor mill from churning.
