Spoilers From NXT Tapings Including Dusty Rhodes Tribute (June 18)

Four weeks of shows were taped. Is a former NXT Women's Champion main roster-bound?

WWE taped four episodes of NXT at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida on Thursday. Here are some notes on what happened at the tapings. In a dark match, Uhaa Nation beat Johnny Gargano. They both used those names, so maybe Nation will keep that name after using it in the indies. Gargano tried out for WWE this past week and also works for Evolve/DGUSA, so this was likely a tryout match for him unless they already saw enough to sign him. There was a special tribute done for the late great Dusty Rhodes, who died last week. He was a coach for the NXT talent and was beloved by so many of them, so Triple H said a few words about how Dusty thought of the talent as his NXT kids while Hunter added that the fans are part of the NXT family. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKArzDfySmQ Week 1 airing June 24 Hideo Itami entered for a promo saying he'll be back in 3-4 months. He said he'll be at the show in Tokyo on July 4 and he wants to challenge the winner of the Kevin Owens/Finn Balor NXT Title match. Owens showed up saying he wanted an apology from Itami for saying that Owens was a bad man. Itami said no, so Owens tried an attack only to be stopped by Finn Balor. After Owens ran away, Rhyno showed up to attack Balor. The matches were: Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady d. Jason Jordan & Sylvester Lefort, Dana Brooke d. Cassie, Zack Ryder & Mojo Rawly d. Sawyer Fulton & Angelo Dawkins. In the main event, Balor beat Rhyno with Owens on commentary. After the match, Samoa Joe saved Balor from an attack. Week 2 airing July 1 The matches were: The Vaudevillains d. Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder, Baron Corbin d. Tucker Knight, Emma d. Carmella, Tyler Breeze d. Tye Dillinger. In the main event, Balor teamed up with Joe to defeat Owens and Rhyno with Balor pinning Owens. Week 3 airing July 8 This will air after the July 4 show in Japan where it's expected that Finn Balor will beat Kevin Owens for the NXT Title. Because of that, neither man appeared in front of the live crowd on the final two shows. Charlotte & Sasha Banks d. Emma & Dana Brooke. Following the match, Charlotte challenged Sasha to a NXT Women's Title match and Sasha accepted. The Vaudevillains d. Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady to become the #1 contenders to the NXT Tag Team Titles. Other matches: Solomon Crowe d. Marcus Louis, Jason Jordan & Chad Gable d. Elias Sampson & Steve Cutler, Samoa Joe d. Axel Tischer Week 4 airing July 15 Eva Marie did a promo saying she'll make her in-ring debut the following week, which would be the next taping in July. Blake & Murphy d. Sawyer Fulton & Angelo Dawkins Sami Zayn did a promo with a sling on his arm because of his recent shoulder surgery. He said 2014 was the best year of his career and 2015 has been the worst. He added that he will likely not be back before the end of the year, but when he does come back he's going to win back the NXT Title. He added that he's going after Kevin Owens because their careers have been connected and it will be that way for the next dozen years as well. NXT Women's Sasha Banks d. Charlotte to retain her title. It was said to be a long match that was very good like usual for them. They ended the show with a hug, which could make it Charlotte's last NXT match. Thanks to ProWrestling.net for the results.
