Sting Helps WWE Raw Ratings - Highest Since June 15th

How much of the credit should go to Sting.

The WWE Raw viewership numbers are in for this week and the news is good because the show received its highest number of viewers since June 15. The three hour average was 3,894,000 viewers. The first hour did 3.87 million viewers, the second hour did 3.99 million viewers and the third hour did 3.83 million viewers. The official rating is not out yet. That's a slight upgrade from the 3.72 million viewers from last week's Raw that followed SummerSlam, which was considered a disappointment following that big Undertaker/Lesnar match. The June 15 Raw, which followed WWE Money in the Bank, did 4.11 million viewers, which was the highest since the March 30 episode after WrestleMania. Who gets the credit for this week's better numbers? Sting should get part of it. WWE advertised Sting as the opening part of the show a few days in advance. They also advertised four matches, which is more than the usual, so perhaps they will do that again in the future.

Fans may think that viewership numbers don't matter as much as they used to since a lot of people DVR the show or watch clips online, but they are still important for channels like USA Network and the advertisers that are helping to pay the bills. While the improvement in the viewer numbers is impressive, WWE might want to think about announcing Sting for a match on Raw just to see if they could get a good rating for his first ever match on Raw. Plus, the man could use a win!
