The REAL Reason WWE Dropped Their "No Wrestling During Commercials" Rule

This week's episodes of WWE Raw and SmackDown saw the promotion ditching their new "no wrestling during commercials" rule, with several bouts continuing through ad breaks rather than being chopped to pieces by 2-out-of-3 falls stipulations and convoluted restarts.

It was a big relief to those audience members who'd already grown weary of the ruling's contrivances, and it looks like Raw's new Executive Director was behind it.

This is according to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He writes that Paul Heyman was able to successfully talk Vince McMahon into reverting to the old way of booking television, and while the Chairman ended up making some "minor tweaks" to his show, Vince consented to drop the rule.

On top of this, Meltzer has also reported that this week's Raw was the most Heyman-heavy yet. This shouldn't come as a huge surprise given the show's big upturn in quality. It was a strong, exciting episode from WWE's flagship brand, and we can only hope this continues as Heyman grows increasingly comfortable in his new role near the top of Raw's creative pile.

As for Vince? Good in him for ditching a rule that wasn't working.
