The Rock has responded to insider reports that WWE were mad at him for going off script in his Raw promo last week, making it clear he's not exactly filled with regret... https://twitter.com/TheRock/status/693804959100436480 The Wrestling Observer Newsletter had earlier stated that some people backstage were "freaking out" when Rock broke away from the planned segment. Instead of sticking to the script, he decided to interview a bunch of fans in the front row. The fans were in fancy dress and had been causing a certain amount of distraction throughout the show, so Rock giving them kudos probably didn't go down too well with management. There's also the time consideration: Rock's segment was already long, so breaking away from the script wouldn't have helped matters. If it was any other wrestler going in to business for themselves like that, there would have been serious repercussions. However, with Rock being such a huge name, WWE just have to be grateful they have him. It isn't like Vince McMahon could really chew him out over the segment. The "going off script" was fun, but it did feel like the segment dragged a bit, taking up a huge chunk of time on last week's Raw. Still, Rock is so good on the mic, that even a dragging segment is more entertaining than the usual WWE promos.
