"Y'know, I get asked about this a lot".

The Undertaker vs. Sting will forever be known as the dream match that got away.

Fans were hopeful that WWE would finally book the bout when Sting joined the company in 2014, but it wasn't meant to be. During a fan Q&A session with IGN, 'Taker revealed that he didn't think it was possible anyway due to the advanced age of both men.

After joking that he "gets asked about this a lot", the WWE icon said that he believes a match with Sting looked "better on paper" than it would've been in practice. That's heartbreaking news for anybody who read wrestling magazines in the 90s and dreamed about seeing 'Crow' Sting lock horns with 'The Deadman' on a major pay-per-view.

Sting only ended up working two matches in WWE - one against Triple H and one against Seth Rollins.

The WCW legend has said himself in numerous interviews that he wishes he'd had the chance to work with 'Taker. It was discussed, but WWE never came as close as people might hope to making the fantasy match a reality.

The Undertaker also told IGN he wasn't too bothered by that, because he was worried it'd be a letdown anyway.
