While both AEW and NXT put on good shows this week, the ratings have not been kind to WWE’s black and gold brand. In fact, this week’s episode of NXT drew the second-lowest rating since the brand started airing on the USA Network in September 2019.

For AEW, this week’s Dynamite drew 762,000 viewers, which is a 15% increase on the 662,000 viewers of last week’s New Year’s Smash Night 1.

Over on the NXT side of things, Showbuzz Daily reports that this week’s offering drew 551,000 viewers, marking a 14% drop on last week’s 641,000 viewers. This means that AEW’s audience this week was 38% higher than its NXT counterpart.

In the all-important 18-49 demographic, AEW had a 0.30 rating and NXT hit a 0.14 number.

It’s worth nothing that, while Dynamite was up on last week’s numbers, this week’s rating is the lowest since AEW’s Thanksgiving week episode.

Regarding NXT, the more troublesome news is that this week’s show is the second-worst rating that the brand has had since moving to USA Network. The worst rating for NXT still remains the 18 March 2020 offering, but the caveat there is that that particular episode of NXT was the first time that the brand had zero fans in attendance as the global pandemic took hold.

To be honest, both AEW and NXT put together good shows last night. The New Year’s Smash Night 2 episode of AEW Dynamite was absolutely phenomenal from top to bottom, while NXT was a strong show in its own right.
