TNA Making Major Changes With Wrestler Contracts

TNA wrestlers don't appear to be happy about it either.

TNA Wrestling is changing the way they pay their performers because they are moving away from giving talents long term contracts and instead moving to more per appearance deals, according to PWInsider. There were several performers that were informed of this new strategy over the last week. In some cases, TNA will pay talents a bit more per appearance than what they were getting before because it would make up for the loss of the guarantee deals and if TNA starts doing more live events then the wrestlers could get more money. TNA has stopped doing live events aside from one event in September in York, PA. The report from PWInsider claims that several performers aren't happy about this new deal because they don't want to see their guaranteed deals disappear. It's also a possibility that some wrestlers will turn down the terms of the per appearance deals because they don't like the change and that could lead to some of them leaving the company just like James Storm, Austin Aries and Magnus recently. These moves are necessary for what TNA currently is, which is a wrestling company with a television show that no longer tours around America like they used to. As has been noted in the past, their TV future in America is in serious doubt with reports of TNA possibly looking for a new home with Destination America possibly cancelling their TV deal in September. While most of the performers will be on per appearance deals going forward, major names like Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy are expected to retain their guaranteed contracts.
