Why was the former Divas Champion behind the scenes in Tampa?

Half a year has passed since Paige last appeared on WWE television. Last seen scoring a tag team victory over Charlotte and Dana Brooke on the June 27th episode of Raw, the former Divas Champion was drafted to the red brand in July, and hasn't featured since. A severe neck injury and two Wellness Policy suspensions have kept her sidelined, and there's no word on her return.

Paige ignited a glimmer of hope among her fans when images of her arriving Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL (Raw's location for the evening) surfaced last night. This led to speculation that she'd appear on the show, but it wasn't to be: Paige left the building a few hours later, with fiancee Alberto El Patron picking her up.

So why was Paige at the arena? PWInsider have cleared it up. According to their report, Paige was backstage at Raw for a check-up on her neck injury, and there were never any intentions of her appearing on the show. Paige still hasn't been cleared to wrestle having undergone surgery in October, and PWI also note that no Total Divas material was filmed while she was there.

Paige and El Patron spent time signing autographs before leaving the building, but there's still no word on her return, and the Women's Revolution rumbles on without her.
