Veteran WWE Writer Now Working For The Rock
How WWE lost a writer to The Rock.
Brian Gewirtz, a long time WWE writer that worked there for about 15 years, has quit to take a job working for The Rock's Seven Bucks Entertainment production company. According to the Wrestling Observer, Gewirtz gave notice weeks ago and was at Raw in Washington on June 29 to say goodbye to his friends in the company. Gerwirtz worked closely with The Rock as the writer that handled most of his promos during the prime years of the Attitude Era. Even when The Rock returned to the company from 2011 to 2013 it was Gewirtz who often times was helping him out with promos. Apparently, The Rock was impressed with him enough that he brought him into Seven Bucks, which The Rock co-owns with his ex-wife Dany Garcia. Gewirtz was the head writer on Raw for many years in the 2000s and remained on the creative team until late 2012 when Eric Pankowski, the head writer at the time, sent him home. Since then, Gewirtz worked from home as a consultant that would occasionally go into the office. He also spent some time doing work for the WWE Network since he had spent so much time with the company. Former WWE announcer Kevin Kelly wrote in 2012 that Gewirtz would help out Rock with his promos while he was doing them: "The little toad writer Brian Gewirtz would sometimes hold up a piece of paper just off camera that Rock would glance at during his promo. Not all the time only when he needed it. Some promos were easy, others were more complicated. When he had sunglasses on, he could read the whole thing if he wanted to and no one could tell." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6k_QYTaWe14 Working for WWE as long as he did probably led to Gewirtz wanting a fresh start, so it's no surprise that he is now working for The Rock's company since they obviously have had a lot of success working together in the past.
