After months of news and rumors indicating that WWE was considering bringing independent wrestling promotions' content to their streaming network, the plans have reportedly changed.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE chairman Vince McMahon signed off on the idea of approaching other promotions to make deals for their shows, but then changed his mind days later.

WWE's interest in bringing other companies' product onto the WWE Network was revealed in a series of fan surveys the promotion sent out to network subscribers. In the surveys, the company introduced the idea of a tiered pricing system for the WWE Network, offering fans who were willing to pay more than the standard $9.99 per month extra content and perks. Among the incentives listed was access to independent content, with TNA and Ring of Honor mentioned by name.

Though there was no indication as whether the independent content offered would be old or new, either way, it would be attractive to subscribers. Many of WWE's current stars have accumulated massive bodies of work in TNA, ROH, EVOLVE, and elsewhere. At one point, it looked like WWE was about to ink a deal to purchase TNA's tape library, but that fell through when the promotion was purchased by another party.

McMahon, of course, may change his mind again, and many WWE officials are operating under that assumption, but as of now, the indy content is off the table.
