According to a brief article on WWE.com, company chairman Vince McMahon suffered an injury while training this week. Though the 71-year-old McMahon will require surgery, he is expected to be back in his office at WWE headquarters on Wednesday.

The Wrestling Observer had more information on the injury, which is believed to have occurred over the past couple of days. The word going around the company is that McMahon tore his quadriceps while squatting. He likely didn't want the news about his injury getting out, hence the lack of details in the official article.

This isn't the first time McMahon has suffered a debilitating quadriceps tear. At the 2005 Royal Rumble, a botched finished resulted in the final two men, Batista and John Cena, being eliminated simultaneously. McMahon came down to the ring to make an on-the-spot decision regarding the finish, but as he slid inside the squared circle, he tore his quad. He was forced to communicate with the referee while seated.

While McMahon was backstage after his injury, he refused any help getting around. Eventually, he put so much weight on his healthy leg that he tore that quad, as well. He needed surgery and was confined to a wheelchair, although by May he was strutting out to the ramp on Raw, criticizing the injured Randy Orton for having lost weight.
