Like a lot of young wrestling fans, Dar didn't imagine a career in professional wrestling a possibility, knocking it down in his mind as being pure fantasy. Still, when friends of his said that they were going along to a wrestling school Dar decided to join them. It was interesting, and it also represented a novel way of staying in shape and keeping busy on a Sunday.

The school turned out to be the Premier British Wrestling school, and Dar arrived as a wide-eyed 13-year old. He trained outside of the ring for five months, taught that the ring itself was a privilege and not a right. This respect is something Dar still brings with him today.

His trainers were Kid Fite, Lionheart and Colin McKay (huzzah!), three legends of the British independent wrestling scene. PBW also acts as a wrestling promotion, with an active roster including some of the top talents in UK wrestling.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
