Sasha Banks and Bayley dropped the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships to The IIconics at WrestleMania 35, ending their reign at just 49 days.

Both were frustrated by the move, with 'The Boss' reportedly using it as a catalyst to request her release from the promotion after the weekend, and Dave Meltzer has a new update on the situation in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Per the writeup, the decision to tag the belts off Banks and Bayley and split their popular team up was made in advance. Several people within the company knew about it, but officials decided that they weren't going to tell the wrestlers until the day of the show itself, though it's unclear if they were told about WWE's plan to send them to separate brands in the Superstar Shake-Up at the same time.

The combination of not getting the strong title run they were promised to establish the belts, splitting the team up so soon after their formation, and withholding information led to this situation. Meltzer writes that Bayley was upset, but not to the same extent as Banks. 'The Boss' remains on hiatus with no word of when she might return.
