For those hoping to see Daniel Bryan leave WWE to perhaps try and wrestle elsewhere, you're going to be waiting for quite awhile.

In the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that Bryan's contract expires in 2018.

There has been a bit of confusion on when he'd be able to leave the company, as for awhile his contract was considered "frozen" since he was unable to wrestle, as he wasn't fulfilling the dates on his deal.

Now that he's back on-air, though, he should be free to leave in a couple years, or possibly a little sooner.

Meltzer also said that the Forbes article which claimed that WWE hasn't "shut the door" on a Bryan return is incorrect. This makes the recent shots at him on-air being unable to wrestle again even stranger. It seems a bit like a cruel tease not only on the audience, but to Bryan himself.

Bryan will still be relatively young (37) when his deal expires, so maybe he will decide to try and compete again. Right now, though, he's working on starting a family with Brie, so wrestling once more would likely not be a good idea for his health.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW.
