Why Bryan Danielson Is BACK On AEW TV (AEW News)
Wrestling veteran Bryan Danielson starts as a commentator on this week's Dynamite.
Bryan Danielson is back on AEW TV, albeit as a member of the company's commentary team. The veteran will kick off his new full-time role on Wednesday's episode of Dynamite; that'll be the last of All Elite's run at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. AEW had a residency at the venue, one that hit the headlines as part of a labour dispute between the building and a local union group.
On the whole, Tony Khan considers the gig at 2300 to be a success, and he told the Battleground podcast that he's delighted to give AEW fans a chance to hear from Bryan every week on television. Khan was impressed by Danielson's guest commentary spot at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view in late-August. It was so strong that Tony believed Bryan could add valuable context behind the desk every single week.
So, they got together to have a chat and agreed that he should become a full-timer on comms.
Khan reckons Danielson has some "very intelligent, insightful things to say". The ex-WWE star has wrestled across the globe since the late-1990s, so he brings a wealth of experience. In addition to that, as Tony pointed out on the pod, Bryan is a hardcore pro wrestling fan who very-much still keeps his eye on what's happening across the map.
He's well versed on the independent circuit, what's going on in Mexico, Japanese wrestling and more. Khan says that'll come in handy and add even more depth to AEW commentary going forwards into late-2025 and 2026.
Bryan hasn't wrestled a proper match since dropping the AEW World Title to old Blackpool Combat Club stablemate Jon Moxley at WrestleDream 2024. That was on 12 October 2024. Danielson did work an 8-second dark match win over Max Caster after an episode of Collision had been taped in June 2025, but that was a post-show giggle more than anything.
This new role as a commentator gives Bryan a reason to show up on AEW screens every week. A new adventure begins on Wednesday!
