Why Did WWE Cancel This MAJOR NXT Call-Up?

An injury suffered over SummerSlam weekend scuppered this star's chances.

Lars Sullivan will become the next NXT prospect to make the leap to WWE's main roster sometime over the next few weeks, but it sounds like the promotion cancelled plans to bring one of developmental's biggest names to Raw or SmackDown this past summer.

Per Mike Johnson on PW Insider Elite Audio, EC3 was originally supposed to get called up around SummerSlam time, but WWE scrapped this idea when he suffered a concussion on the weekend of the pay-per-view.

Johnson describes EC3 as being "always on the precipice of an eventual call-up." He has the charisma and look that Vince McMahon likes, so while he's only been part of NXT for a relatively short length of time, it's perfectly conceivable that the company would hot-shot him onto the main roster.

Extrapolating on the matter, Johnson said that WWE are now waiting to call EC3 up until they figure out a spot for him. Triple H might be ready to let him go, but WWE must find a role on Raw or SmackDown first, and as crowded as NXT has become, they can't just rush everybody to the main roster at once.
