WWE: 10 Reasons You Should Be A Fan Right Now

CM Punk This is a historic period for World Wrestling Entertainment as they celebrate their 50th year as a company as well as their 30th WrestleMania taking place in April of 2014. This feature is about looking at ten reasons why you should be a WWE fan right now. Keep in mind that I don't think WWE is at its absolute best right now, so this is largely a general opinion piece rather than breaking down key storylines in the current WWE setting. Down the road I'll be writing things like that for sure. That's not for this. Since this is my first feature column here, a little bit of info about me. I've been writing about wrestling on the internet for over a decade, I'm in my early 30s and have watched WWE for over 25 years. I'm a Canadian that lives two hours west of Toronto and two hours east of Detroit, so there have always been wrestling shows near where I live. It may not be as hot a market as New York or Chicago, but there are definitely a lot of wrestling fans in this year. I grew up as a WWE guy. I've seen every PPV as well as nearly every episode of Raw and Smackdown. I loved the Attitude Era not necessarily for the vulgarity, violence and scantily clad women, but for the talented roster that WWE possessed at the time. I'm a fan of the in the in-ring performers. My favorites include Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, Kurt Angle and my childhood top guy was definitely Randy Savage. You'll read about my current favorites later on. More importantly than all of it, what you need to know is I really love the wrestling business and respect anybody that has the courage to get in the ring to do what they do. Even you, Great Khali. It's not an easy job. If it was easy more people would try. It's hard to make it to the WWE level and that's why I always show my appreciation for those that do their job well. Do I love everything that WWE does even if a storyline is bad? No. I'll call them out on it. I want the product to be better. I want talents to rise up. I want those that are at the top to do their best to make others look like stars too. It's better for the company, the wrestlers and most importantly for us fans. Now that I've got that intro out of the way, let's get to it with the ten reasons. Sorry Total Divas, you're not going to make the list.
