WWE: 10 Reasons The Undertaker Could Retire At WrestleMania 30
4. Dave Meltzer Believed 2014 Would Be Undertaker's Last Year
While the insider speculation has been fairly quiet in the approach to WrestleMania 30, the most trusted industry source, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, did last year predict 2014 would be Taker's final show. "The expectation is he would like to do the 2014 show, and that show could be built around his farewell, since he'll be 49 at that point," the Newsletter stated in the build to WrestleMania 29. Although a farewell angle hasn't been built around the Mania show yet, it could still transpire to be the case that the event ends with Taker signifying retirement, or a major goodbye angle the next night on Raw (where WWE always like to book something big). From Meltzer's report a year ago we can certainly ascertain that retirement was on Undertaker's mind, with the locker room expecting it. Not much has been discussed since that point, Taker's a very private wrestler, few details ever get out about him. The recent insider discussions have more focused upon what WWE and Sting want, a streak match at WrestleMania 31. What Taker wants could still be retirement.
